The company "La Mastro Giorgio", owned and run by the Biagioli family in Gubbio, Italy, derives its name from a famous 15th century painter known as Mastro Giorgio. The company produces very high end majolica pieces, in red clay, made entirely by hand. All of the items follow the local noble Renaissance traditions in the use of colors and designs. The resulting patina of the majolica is brought about by a third firing of each piece.
The Biagioli studio is one of the oldest in Italy.
